Windows 8正式版发布日期暂定于2012年10月或11月。Windows 8消费者预览版将于2013年1月16日过期。
Windows 8 对于平板和手机是一个利好消息，一方面Windows 8能与Windows phone系统完美结合，管理Windows phone手机更方便了。另一方面，Windows 8 的metro界面最适合在触摸平板上应用，对于一般的台式电脑或者笔记本，如果没有触摸屏的话，很难体会到metro界面的先进之处,一句话，Windows 8 metro不是鼠标键盘的菜。
